Hemostatic Variables in Patients with Intrauterine Fetal Death

Abstract

|
to assess the occurrence of hemostatic disturbances in patients with intrauterine fetal death, we reviewed these cases at Seoul Red Cross Hospital during 4 years from Jan 1,1990 to Dec 31, 1994. There were 45 intrauterine fetal death, during that
time.
@ES The results of this study is as follows:
@EN 1) Low platlet count: 2%(1/45)
2) prolonged bleeding time: 0%(0/42)
3) Prolonged coagulation time: 0%(0/42)
4) Prolonged prothrombin time: 4%(1/28)
5) prolonged partial thromboplastin time: 4%(1/28)
6) Hypofibrinogenemia: 21%(4/19)
7) Elevated fibrin degradation product: 26%(5/19)
8) No patients except one case with placental abruption presented postpartum bleeding despite abnormal coagulation profiles.
